Franco Menicagli was born in 1968 in Campiglia Marittima (Leghorn), and lives and works in Prato.
In 1991 he received his diploma in Sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence.
His reseach spans a variety of artistic disciplines, from installations to performance art, from photography to video, from ‘sculpted’ objects to virtual images. His works have a kind of essential precariousness about them that is manifested in the use of ‘poor’ materials such as wood, adhesive tape and cardboard. His sculptures and installations therefore display a kind of ephemeral looking intention, ironically counterbalanced by materials and techniques used in sculpture. His participation in urban art projects (Inluogo Matera 2005) leads him to create connections between places and people, environments and art. He exhibited in 2006 at the Trevi Flash Art Museum, in 2009 at the DOB Gallery in Belgrade and at the Galeries- Dudelange in Luxembourg, in 2011 at the Suspense-Scultpure showat the EX3 Centro per L’Arte Contemporanea Florence, in 2012 he had a solo shows at the MARS (Mila Artist Run Space)
