Andrea Chiesi was born in 1966 in Modena. He is one of the most interesting Italian painters of the last generations. He developed a research on contemporary landscape, time and memory through a meticulous and maniacal oil painting on canvas, sometimes exasperating the structures, the study of light, shadows and dim light. At the same time he draws figures and industrial subjects with a purplish-black ink that dissolves the subject in a quiet and liquid space.
He grows up attending the scene of the punk counterculture and indie music that take place in the first half of the Eighties. In this cultural environment he begins working as a draftsman for several fanzines, underground publications exposing his works in social centers.
